A single Web Performance Load Tester license is a floating license for a work group to generate a number of simultaneous virtual users. The program can be installed on any number of computers as needed to generate the licensed number of virtual users, but only one user at a time per license is allowed to use the software. For example, two copies of a 500 virtual user license can not be run at the same time to simulate 1,000 virtual users, but a single user could utilize a dozen different computers to generate 500 virtual users.

The license is floating among a workgroup, so it can be used by more than one person, just not at the same time. The workgroup restriction means you can share the same license among your project team, but not with everyone in a company. If you wish to have multiple persons use the program at the same time multiple licenses must be purchased.

The license holder purchases the permanent rights to execute the purchased program with a one time payment.

A year of Premium Support can be added on to your original purchase for an additional 25% cost. If the support contract lapses, the user must purchase an upgrade in order to make the software license current.

Rather than purchase a permanent license, Web Performance Load Tester can be rented for increments of one month. Because of the time limitation a temporary license comes with priority email and phone support. In all other respects, the licensing works exactly as a permanent license. The difference between a temporary license and a permanent license is the temporary license lasts a short period of time, usually a month, while the permanent license is good forever.

You can upgrade the number of virtual users at any time by just paying the difference in the cost at the time you upgrade.

Upgrades (new versions) typically cost the same as a Premium Support Contract, so the most cost effective approach is to purchase a Premium Support Contract so you not only get access to the latest upgrades, but receive priority technical support as well.
