Web Performance Trainer 2.7

Version 2.7 - Release date: 08/25/2004

The 2.7 release is ready and is the biggest feature upgrade ever. 2.7 includes session and username/password wizards, improved browser simulation, NTLM support, Web server monitoring, byte-accurate virtual user logging and more. Try it now!

Server Monitoring

The system load and memory usage of the web server are displayed during the test and the results are integrated into the graphs and charts.

Session Tracking

Most types of session tracking schemes are automatically detected and configured using the session tracking wizard.

Improved Performance

The new I/O engine will simulate more hits/second and more virtual users with the same hardware. For example, on our sample test case the maximum number of hits per second with SSL on an 800MHz computer went from 141 hits/sec to 327 hits/sec! The performance increase with non-SSL tests also increased but by a lesser amount.

User Identity

The user identity wizard detects and configures most types of authentication including web form, basic authentication, client certificates, and NTML (Windows Login).

Multiple Browser

Sockets The enhanced I/O Engine improves simulation of browsers. The number of simultaneous socket connections utilized by virtual users is now set to the default two connections used in Internet Explorer.

Console

Installer With console installers you can install the software even on "headless" servers with no monitor or graphics system installed.

Logging

The complete low-level HTTP transaction details for each virtual user may now be logged to disk for post-test analysis and troubleshooting

Web Performance Trainer 2.6

Version 2.6 - Release date: 10/21/2003

Web Performance Trainer 2.6 has added new high-end features such as IP spoofing, client certificates, VPN support, and scheduled playback, along with a host of other enhancements.

When real users access a web site the requests come from individual computers, each with a unique IP address. This information is often used by hardware load balancers and routers, as well as web server software. The virtual users generated by Web Performance Trainer 2.6 can have unique IP addresses even if there is only a single network card in your test computer.

Client certificates and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) are popular ways to control access to corporate networks. With Web Performance Trainer 2.6 each virtual user can be assigned a unique client certificate, and can be used either by itself or in conjunction with usernames, passwords, or any other information. Both recording and playback can now take place over a VPN as well.

Other features in the 2.6 release include global export of test data to a spreadsheet, and the ability to start playback from the commandline which can be used to schedule playback using your operating systems build-in scheduling facility
