Formula One e.Spreadsheet

The Formula One e.Spreadsheet Engine is an innovative Pure Java solution for embedding financially based actions and functionalities into Java applications and projects.

Java Tool for Building Calculations and Excel Reporting into Financial Applications and Projects

The e.Spreadsheet Engine delivers the power and flexibility of a 100% Pure Java, Excel-compatible spreadsheet engine. You approach it as a complete collection of API-accessible Java classes that integrate seamlessly with your development environment and application server platform. Also included is a separate spreadsheet template designer that you can use to visually build report templates that are merged with dynamic data at runtime.

Altogether, the Formula One e.Spreadsheet Engine provides you with the tools you need to create powerful, 100% Pure Java reporting, budgeting, forecasting, planning, and calculations for your Java applications, Java Server Pages, servlets, or EJB.

Main Areas

The Formula One e.Spreadsheet Engine's versatility and nature as an embedded tool leads to various uses by ReportingEngines customers. However, the majority of these deployments can be classified in three main areas:

1. Excel Report Generation

Access XML or JDBC databases and deliver fully editable Excel files as a report to your business analysts and financial users. Dynamically generate these reports from your application server or through your portal with "new" data and increase the analysis and decision making power of your users with real Excel files that include formulas, outlining, charts, and other rich features included upon delivery.

2. Calculation or Business Rules Engine

Use Excel files as a basis for governing calculations and business rules in your Java projects and applications. Embedded in an application server, the Formula One e.Spreadsheet Engine can read in an Excel file, populate it with incoming data from Web forms, databases, XML, or other data sources, and perform calculations and other actions based on the formulas and functions contained in the base Excel spreadsheet. You as the Java developer no longer have to translate Excel formulas to Java code. The spreadsheet experts (business analysts, actuaries, financial gurus, etc.) continue to own the core business logic and calculations. Calculation errors and application downtime is greatly reduced.

3. Data Grids That Are Excel-Like and Excel-Compatible

Embed a spreadsheet-like interface in your applets and Java desktop applications. Users can manipulate data as if they are using Excel, including the use of Excel formulas and functions. After users make changes in your embedded grid, they can save the file to their desktop as an Excel file or commit the changes back to your server where they can be saved to a database or passed to another application.
